- Tell us a little about yourself, where you’re from, what got you into volleyball?
I’m from Bogota, Colombia and played in college over there but, unfortunately college level over there is not even close to what it is here. So I moved to Florida in 2010 and started playing beach volleyball at the local tournaments. I started off playing in the A division and moved a level up each time, eventually making it into the open division!
- You took first place in the Honduras tournament – that’s HUGE- tell us about that experience!
I was so happy to come back and see my volleyball family from all over the world! After losing the last three tournaments in the finals, it was awesome for me to finally step up and bring the gold home again. It was not easy though. The last match went to three games, but we were able to pull out the win by 2 points!
- Tell us about your relationship with Rox Volleyball!
Since I can remember Rox Volleyball has always produced some of the highest quality swimsuits, that I always wear while playing. Recently, I’ve been asked to be an ambassador for the company and it has been such a rewarding experience!
Everyone over at RVB has been so good to me and I feel truly blessed for this opportunity. I look forward to helping the company reach a new market, people from other parts of the world who want to play in the best gear just like me. We are trying to provide that opportunity to all players in different parts of the world that don’t have access to such great products like we do in the United States.
- What do you love most about Rox Volleyball gear?
I have always been a fan of the brand, but I especially love how the bikinis fit. The stretch in the material is amazing and the stitching is very high quality, unlike a lot of other brands who have the same products. I also love the lifestyle clothing like the hoodies and tank tops. The fit is amazing and it conveys the message that volleyball is more than a game, it’s a lifestyle!
- What are your biggest volleyball accomplishments you’re most proud of?
First thing that comes to mind would be winning the Ranse Classic. It is a benefit tournament for Ranse Jones and people from all over the country come to FL to play. I was able to win this tournament two times.
Also, I have recently been asked to represent my home country of Colombia on one of its national teams. This is a huge honor.
- What’s something most people don’t know about you?
On the court and at the beach I can come across as a little intimidating because I am so competitive, but one thing that a lot of people don’t know about me is that I have a huge heart, especially when it comes to animals. I love animals, I will stop in the middle of traffic to help a duck cross the road (I have done this before, lol)
Also, people always ask me how I travel so much while playing volleyball all the time. Most people don’t know I am an entrepreneur. I own two smoothie bars and am a personal trainer and volleyball coach. That’s why my schedule is flexible and allows me to do what I love.
